Verenigd Koninkrijk
Het Verenigd Koninkrijk van Groot-Brittannië en Noord-Ierland, afgekort VK (Engels: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, afgekort UK), is een staat in West-Europa, gelegen tussen de Noordzee en de Atlantische Oceaan. Het land bestaat uit het eiland Groot-Brittanië (met Engeland, Wales en Schotland) en Noord-Ierland op het eiland Ierland, die het deelt met de republiek Ierland. Het grenst aan de Atlantische Oceaan en de Noordzee in het noorden en oosten, het Kanaal in het zuiden, de Keltische Zee en Ierse Zee in het westen. De hoofdstad is Londen (London). Het is niet langer lid van de Europese Unie sinds 2020. Het is nooit toegetreden tot de Shengenzone. De munt is de Britse Pond (£).
